The Glory of God
You’ve been called in to a large, plush attorney’s library because your childless uncle has made you the heir of his fortune. As you sit there the attorney reads off what is now yours: mind-boggling properties all over the United States with annual income in the hundreds of millions, seven mansions on three continents with stop your heart furnishings and 100 inch plasma TVs in every room, 23 sports cars, a jet, a boat (nah, it’s a ship) – all this is fully paid for, by the way – and multiple investment funds in the (are you bored with this phrase) hundreds of millions. Well, you get the picture. The attorney is disclosing, unveiling for you the total sum of all that is yours from your uncle.
God’s glory is like that. It is the total sum of all that He is and the unveiling of all that He is – all His beauty, all His greatness, all His goodness.
The light of God’s glory breaks out in every aspect of creation, from supernovas to spiders, from the sonnets of Shakespeare to the music of Cold Play, from the taste of Starbucks to the community of Facebook.
But the glory of God shines in its most stunning brilliance in the giving of His Son. Jesus is the radiance of God’s glory. In Jesus we SEE the beauty, greatness, and goodness of God in full display. In Jesus we HAVE the riches of God’s grace and every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. You see, in Jesus we see what God’s glory constantly proclaims: that God is not stingy with Himself. None of what He is does He keep from us. He freely gives us Himself (all that He is!). He pledges Himself to do us good forever. He is ours for the taking. He says, “I (all that I am) will be your God, and you will be my people.” In Jesus we learn that God Himself is our vast inheritance!!
This week at RYM we’ll enter the “the library” together. We’ll stand in awe in the light of God’s glory and delight in the wondrous inheritance that we have in HIM!
Their Vision
RYM exists to reach junior and senior high school students for Christ and equip them to serve Him in the church and in the world.
For over 30 years we have fulfilled our mission by providing conferences for youth that are Word driven, God centered, and Gospel focused. God has blessed RYM, growing us from our original one conference to now six conferences that are reaching and equipping students in the Southeast, West, and Pacific Northwest. We give all praise to God for the abundant grace he has extended to us and the more than 2000 students and youth leaders who attend our summer conferences.
However, we are only scratching the surface of what needs to be done for the sake of Christ’s Kingdom through RYM. We have a growing burden that the youth culture of our cities and nation be transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. We have a growing burden that the disintegrating family be restored by the gospel of Jesus Christ. How can we serve Christ’s church in extending His kingdom in these ways? Our plan of action will focus on three primary areas: conferences, training and resources.
